Diverse Worx was engaged to paint various structures at Petrie station during a scheduled shutdown of the station. Queensland Rail has a program of regular station shutdowns to allow for construction and maintenance works called the Scheduled Corridor Access Scheme (SCAS). It was imperative that Diverse Worx complete the necessary painting works during the SCAS integrated shutdown to ensure minimal impact on the busy public transport hub.
The project required months of planning and the full involvement of Diverse Worx Project Manager, Brad Murray. Brad consulted with all stakeholders to ensure the schedule of works closely coincided with the SCAS and that all Queensland Rail requirements were met. These requirements included supplying paint in Queensland Rail’s corporate colours according to their Corporate Design Guide and preserving the integrity of the Heritage Listed timber waiting shelter on Platform 2. The site also required workplace health and safety measures be implemented for the painting of the pedestrian footbridge and other tall structures. Qualified personnel used a combination of elevated work platforms and abseiling equipment to successfully paint the structures without incident. Due to thorough planning and its experienced personnel, Diverse Worx was able to complete all works in a safe and timely manner, restoring the Petrie train station to its former beauty.
